From Galway City

Take the N59 west through Oughterard and Maam Cross to Recess. Turn right and take the R344 through the Inagh valley, the Twelve Bens on your left and the Maumturk Mountains on your right, until you reach the N59 again. Turn left and go past Kylemore Abbey to Letterfrack.

From Westport

Take the N59 south and southwest through Leenane to Letterfrack—about 32km (20 miles) or 40 minutes.

The new M6 Motorway has reduced the drive from Dublin to Galway to under 2 hours. In Dublin, look for the motorway signs that say “The West”.
